Lois Christie

Lois Christie brings extensive experience in many disciplines to Content Verified. Her background includes undergraduate work in oceanography, biology and business, incorporating independent studies in agriculture and horticulture, as well as completion of The School of Self Heal Pre-Clinic Certification for Herbal Medicine.

Lois worked as a paralegal for 16 years before entering the world of organic farming as the owner and manager of a commercial organic culinary/medicinal herb farm in Baja California, Mexico, for 12 years. These experiences uniquely prepared her for her work as an organic auditor, consultant and trainer. Fluent in Spanish, she has performed over 1,000 audits in both in English and Spanish, and is qualified to verify certification to U.S. standards and to international standards in the E.U., Canada, and Japan.

Armed with her research and investigative report writing skills, knowledge of organic farming methods and an unwavering commitment to high standards for organic certification, Lois is truly a leader in the organic industry.

Shannon Murphy

Shannon's knowledge and expertise is based on life-long experience. She spent her childhood playing and working in a 40-acre conventional avocado and citrus grove. It was by working on the ranch that she learned about irrigation, harvesting and maintenance of the ranch and its produce. When Shannon returned after completing undergraduate studies in general science, she helped convert and co-managed the ranch as certified organic.

A busy organic inspector, Shannon currently performs over 300 inspections per year focusing on processing and post harvest handling. She inspects everything from coffee and salad to multi ingredient retail including meats, grains, cheese, juise, wine, beer and finished baked goods. Shannon is also a skillled inspector in a multitude of other areas including fruit tree crops, row crops, nursery, root vegetables, wild crop gathering.

In addition to her hands-on ranch experience, Shannon received her organic inspector and processor training from industry leaders such as the Guaranteed Organic Certification Agency, California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), Quality Assurance International (QAI) and the International Organic Inspectors Association (IOIA).

 

Karen Troxell

Karen has 15 years of experience in a variety of arenas in the organic industry, managing organic operations.

Karen spearheaded moving a small certified organic company to being organically certified to the USDA National Organic Program standard by working closely with many certifying agencies, inspectors and growers. To keep the operation's status, she wrote the operations manual for the company. She oversaw the operations of the packinghouse so that it would maintain compliance with the USDA National Organic Program standard.

Karen brings to Content Verified expertise in management of organic operations, organic inspection (farm, handler/ processor), compliance review, compliance verification auditing and cosmetic and personal care verification. Her knowledge of the ins and outs of verification and certification is a valuable asset in Content Verified's client services.

Karen is a trained organic processor and farm inspector (IOIA); an organic inspector and has worked for companies such asCCOF, QAI, Organic National and International Certifiers-ON&I, and Guaranteed Organic Certification Agency-GOCA; and as a reviewer (QAI, ON&I, GOCA). Her training includes: Organic Processor and Organic, Crop Inspector Training, AIB Food Safety and ISO 65 Lead Auditor.
